PRASA GAUTENG II RESIGNALLING

As part of the implementation of the PRASA (Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa) project, “Gauteng II Resignalling”, a number of sites were identified where track alterations are required in order to improve the operational efficiency and flexibility of the rail network.

JG Afrika’s scope of work was to undertake the permanent way geometrical changes required in order to accommodate the improved signalling system and new trackwork layout – the Preliminary and Detail Design of track alterations and attendant formation and formation drainage, including design reports, at Mitchell Street Junction (including Schutte Station) and Wintersnest Stations, and a geotechnical analysis report of different types of geosynthetics.
