The City of Cape Town embarked on a multi-phase stormwater planning project to identify the causes for, and solutions to, flooding in residential areas during the rainfall season.
JG Afrika was part of a consortium of engineers that developed a catchment management plan on behalf of the City of Cape Town.
The focus of the project was the production of a consolidated high-level computer model of the eastern catchments. It entailed garnering and verifying large quantities of data before evaluating the performance of the stormwater system against various rainfall scenarios to determine the shortcomings of the existing network.
A prioritised capital upgrade programme was then developed for the City of Cape Town.
