JG Afrika bolsters its ranks with world-class structural engineering skills and experience

JG Afrika has appointed Andrew Leibnitz, a well-known structural engineer with more than 20 years’ experience working in the profession, as a Technical Director at the firm’s Pietermaritzburg office.

Leibnitz previously served as a Divisional Director of SNA’s Structural Division and a Manager of the firm’s Pietermaritzburg office.

He has participated in the planning and design of many innovative reinforced and pre-stressed concrete, as well as steel bridges and highway structures.

One of the highlights of his career was leading the structures team that designed capacity improvements to EB Cloete Interchange, as well as upgrades to Edwin Swales Interchange on the N2 and Spine Road and Paradise Valley Interchanges on the N3 in eThekwini, KwaZulu-Natal.

He has also gained a wealth of design experience working on a host of highway construction projects, including in the UK, Mozambique and Taiwan, where he worked on a high-speed railway line project.

Leibnitz, who graduated from the University of Natal with a BSc Eng (Civil) summa cum laude in 1992, is a Chartered Engineer of the Engineer Council UK, as well as a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (London); the South African Institution of Civil Engineering; and the Engineering Council of South Africa.

He says that he is proud to be part of a team that has earned an enviable reputation for the high quality of its engineering.

“For many years, JG Afrika has been associated with numerous milestone projects, including African rail and road transportation infrastructure. Joining the company provides me with immense potential for both personal and professional development,” Leibnitz says.

Members of JG Afrika’s board, including Paul Olivier, Managing Director, congratulate Leibnitz, and know that his technical expertise and experience will enhance the firm’s existing standing as a leading African engineering solutions provider.
