Andrew Leibnitz is a professionally registered and chartered civil engineer with three decades of experience specialising in the design and rehabilitation of bridges and structures. He serves as a Technical Director at JG Afrika and leads the Structures section in the firm’s Pietermaritzburg office.
Andrew’s technical expertise spans all stages of bridge and structural design, from feasibility studies and concept development to detailed design and construction supervision. He has designed reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, and composite structures across South Africa and internationally including major projects in the United Kingdom, Australasia, and Southeast Asia. His experience also includes seismic design, structural strengthening, temporary works, and bridge inspections.
Notable projects include the EB Cloete Interchange upgrade, structural rehabilitation of the Tongaat River Bridge, and the 5.3 km Candaba Viaduct in the Philippines.
He holds a BSc (Eng) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal Natal and is professionally registered with both the Engineering Council of South Africa and the UK Engineering Council. He is a member of SAICE and the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK).
