With over 35 years of experience in structural and civil engineering, Owen Davis is a professionally registered civil engineering technologist and Technical Director at JG Afrika.
Specialising in the design, detailing, and supervision of reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, aluminium, and timber structures, he brings extensive expertise to complex engineering projects across the residential, commercial, industrial, municipal, and infrastructure sectors.
Owen holds a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Cape Town and is registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa and the National Home Builders Regulatory Council.
Since joining JG Afrika in 2006, he has played a key role in the delivery of numerous award-winning and first-of-its-kind developments, including solid waste management facilities, wastewater treatment works, high-end residential developments, educational and medical facilities, and energy-from-waste infrastructure.
His comprehensive understanding of structural engineering codes, building regulations, and sustainable construction methods supports his ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and serve as Principal Agent, Lead Consultant, or Project Engineer. Notable projects under his leadership include the Clifton Terraces Apartments, the New Horizons Waste to Energy Facility, the Electron Road Waste Management Facility in Durban, and the FNB Contact Centre in Randburg.
Promoted to Technical Director in 2020, Owen continues to mentor emerging professionals and provide strategic technical direction within the firm. His personal interests include pottering around the house, enjoying the outdoors, golf and spending time with the family.
