Nomsa Mkaza has many years of experience in Institutional and Social Development, she brings a wealth of expertise in community empowerment, research, facilitation, and capacity building. Nomsa holds a Master’s in Education from Manchester University, along with multiple diplomas in International Development, Health Education, and Water and Sanitation Engineering from leading institutions in the UK and Norway.


Nomsa has led and contributed to numerous development initiatives across South Africa and the SADC region, working with clients such as the Department of Social Development, Department of Water Affairs, Buffalo City Municipality, the European Union, and the Regional Land Claims Commission. Her work spans poverty alleviation, local economic development, strategic planning, housing verification, and sanitation programme coordination, research and reviews.

She is a passionate advocate for participatory development, ensuring that communities play a central role in projects that affect them. Her experience also includes working with international organisations like UNICEF and UNDP in Mozambique on education and gender development programmes.


Nomsa is a member of several professional bodies including the Water Research Commission Board, Amatola Water Board, Agricultural and Rural development Research Institute – ARDRI (University of Fort Hare) and the Minister of Housing’s Advisory Panel. Her leadership and dedication continue to shape community-driven development throughout the region.


Nomsa spends most of her spare time on social responsibility projects for churches, Schools and communities.
