Duane Petersen is a Director and the Cape Town Branch Manager at JG Afrika, with nearly two decades of experience in municipal infrastructure, stormwater management, and civil engineering design.
Since joining the firm in 2005, Duane has worked across a wide range of public and private sector projects, gaining experience in roads, rail, stormwater, and solid waste infrastructure. His early work included stormwater design on road upgrades and municipal infrastructure projects, and he later contributed to the design and supervision of railway station upgrades and refuse transfer facilities.
He has led complex projects such as the Stellenbosch River Management Plan, the Eastern Catchments Stormwater Master Plan, and the detailed design of the Sir Lowry’s River upgrade; a project balancing flood control and land development. Duane also played a key role in the Wallacedene Phase 10 upgrade, which involved full-service delivery design.
Promoted to Executive Associate in 2016, Technical Director in 2021, and Director in 2022, Duane now oversees technical direction and project execution across the Cape Town office, with a continued focus on sustainable urban infrastructure development.
