We’re thrilled to congratulate our Executive Associate, Bobby Jarratt, on being elevated to a Fellow of the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE), one of the highest honours within the profession.
Fellows are corporate members of SAICE who have achieved distinguished recognition in the civil engineering profession. They are regarded as individuals who have made significant contributions to the field, shown substantial responsibility and initiative in their work, and gained considerable professional experience over their careers.
Bobby’s journey with JG Afrika began in 2008, when he joined our Cape Town Structural Division as an Engineer. Over the years, he has played a key role in the design and delivery of numerous large civil and structural engineering projects, including road and pedestrian bridges, wastewater treatment works, and milestone projects such as the 200m-tall Khi Solar Tower in Upington, the Crocodile River Bridge, and the Nhlangano Wastewater Treatment Works in eSwatini.
He was also part of the 145 Kloof Road residential development team, which received a SAICE Commendation for Technical Excellence in 2017, one of several proud achievements in a career defined by innovation and excellence.
In 2019, Bobby was recognised as the SAICE Young Engineer of the Year, a testament to his leadership, technical skill, and commitment to advancing the profession. Today, as an accomplished Executive Associate, he continues to share his knowledge and passion by mentoring younger engineers, something he values deeply, having benefited from strong mentorship early in his own career.

This recognition as a SAICE Fellow is a well-deserved reflection of Bobby’s dedication, professionalism, and the impact he continues to make in the industry.
Congratulations, Bobby!
