Senior Municipal Engineer – Cape Town (Ref CT0115)

JG Afrika is looking to hire a senior civil engineer with experience in design and management of projects in the municipal environment, in particular in the fields of municipal infrastructure and/or (integrated) solid waste management.
The candidate will be expected to undertake designs, manage construction projects in both design and construction stage, and engage and manage client interactions and expectations, as part of a JG Afrika-Team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee design and construction stage of projects, including undertaking of contract administration through the life cycle of a project,
• Prepare and Lead Civil Engineering designs, and management of multi-disciplinary team and stakeholder inputs
• Manage and oversee technical staff, and ensure task execution by key dates,
• Prepare and manage project programmes, budgets and milestone delivery
• Preparing contract documentation and managing contract administration.
• Train and Mentor junior staff in knowledge areas

Qualifications:

• BTech (Civil Eng) or BSc Eng Civil (Essential)
• Must be registered with ECSA (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng) (Essential)
• PrCPM with SACPCMP would be advantageous
• A valid driver’s licence (Essential)

Experience:

• 5-10 years’ post-graduation experience in project management and civil engineering design in the waste management or municipal infrastructure discipline

Skills:

• Efficient
• Ability to work independently and part of a team.
• Ability to manage and communicate with both more senior and junior staff
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong project management skills
• Ability to take responsibility and accountability for their tasks as well as their teams

Competencies:

• Proficiency in:
o AutoCAD,
o Civils 3D,
o Microsoft Office Suite,
o MS Projects.
