JG Afrika was appointed by the Zambian Road Development Agency (RDA) to determine the feasibility of upgrading of about 320 km of an existing gravel road between Manyinga, Mwinilunga and Jimbe in Zambia’s North-Western Province.
We were also appointed to undertake the preliminary road design, including three bridges, one of which spans the Zambezi River close to its source, and about 26 major culverts.
The initial assessment was undertaken in partnership with Zenith Consulting, Gladstone Consulting Engineers, Petcon and Controlab Zambia.
Teams travelled in four 4×4 vehicles for a week, inspecting the route, which was generally in an very poor condition, while also locating sources of materials for the rehabilitation phases.
