FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE UMFOLOZI RIVER OFF-CHANNEL STORAGE DAM

We were appointed for the water resources component of the feasibility study for the Umfolozi River off-channel storage dam.

The ACRU daily time-step model was used for the catchment hydrology. It included analysis and the development of a series of catchment representative climate falls for several sub-catchments, as well as scenarios for different abstractions and storage sizes.

The output was used to determine the optimal yield and daily pumping scenarios.

Detailed design flood hydrology was undertaken on the tributary to determine the Recommended Design Flood and Safety Evaluation Flood.
