JG Afrika was part of joint venture (JV) with Bergstan and Gauff Ingenieure that was appointed to undertake the detailed feasibility and preliminary design for the Thune Dam.
We completed a comprehensive review of the relevant background information and, in particular, the existing dam feasibility study and preliminary design, as well as reworked the entire feasibility study. The latter included a detailed review of the hydrological analysis, culminating in an integrated hydraulic model.
Following approval of the feasibility study, the JV undertook the detailed design, prepared tender documentation and undertook a costing and economic analysis.
JG Afrika was directly involved in reviewing the project water resources to determine yield models; reviewing the project’s preliminary design; detailed design of the project works, including drilling and material sourcing; and undertaking an economic evaluation for the project.
