DIKGATLHONG DAM WATER SUPPLY PIPELINE

The Botswana Department of Water Affairs appointed a joint venture (JV) between JG Afrika and Bergstan Gauff to undertake a detailed feasibility study to assess options to connect the water resource available from the Dikgathlong Dam and the existing North/South carrier pipeline.

The JV was also appointed to implement the project, and we were responsible for the detailed design, tender documentation and supported Bergstan Gauff in the supervision component of the pipeline.

As part of the detailed design, JG Afrika undertook an analysis of the most cost-effective pipeline diameter taking into account material type, supply, installation and handling costs. O&M requirements were also considered during the material selection phase.

Transient pressures, lifetime operating costs, in terms of energy requirements and concomitant infrastructure, were also significant considerations.
