Energy Efficiency Forum Awards: 2015 Large Building Retrofit Category
Client: Acucap Properties
The project involved the decoupling of mainstream resource flows from the Bayside Mall by means of implementing several sustainability-oriented interventions. The three principal interventions used are:
Waste-to-energy: utilising anaerobic digestions and biogas combustion,
Solar energy: utilising photovoltaic cells and direct energy systems,
Rainwater harvesting and reuse: utilising stormwater for non-potable purposes.
JG Afrika was responsible for guiding the project from inception and feasibility stages, through the preliminary and detailed design phases, to the tender, contract administration and site supervision phases.
JG Afrika also looked into the environmental authorisation as well as communication with multiple stakeholders in the Mall to make the project more beneficial.
