JG Afrika was appointed to upgrade a 42,5 km section of existing gravel road from the National Road 2 at Mooiplaas to Kei Mouth.
The road was upgraded to bituminous surface standard and widened by 10,8 m with a general design speed of 100 km/h and a minimum design speed of 80 km/h in difficult terrain.
Our work scope included the construction of new bridges over the Kwenxura and Quko rivers, as well as cast in-situ drainage and cattle creep box and pipe culverts, in addition to other appurtenant works.
JG Afrika undertook the route location, preliminary design, detailed topographical survey and materials investigation procurement, in addition to detailed geometric, pavement and structural design.
We were also involved in the Environmental Impact Assessment, which included procurement, land acquisitions, community participation, preparation of contract documentation, tendering and tender adjudication.
